South Africans are misguided when it comes to their war with foreigners

Obama…show us the way beyond freedom…

South Africa is plagued by sporadic incidents of violence against foreign nationals, particularly those from Africa, at the moment.

This is unfortunate. South Africa is regarded as a ‘miracle’, since there was not civil unrest after April 1994. The world perceives South Africans as mature when it comes to conflict resolution and when matters of race besiege the inhabitants.

South Africans have lived with foreign nationals for a long time, and the existence was peaceful. Even after 1994 the existence was peaceful. This xenophobic behaviour is a new phenomenon. The problem here is not about the foreigners; but against the SA government and foreigners from Africa themselves.

Let me start by saying that African head of states must start making conditions conducive to live in in their country. They must improve economic conditions and make life habitable. Provide a better health care and provide opportunities for good business. They should also discourage civil unrest and wars and take steps to eradicate poverty. Political instability must be ended and senseless persecutions against opponents stopped.

That will encourage these people who are in South Africa at the moment to return home and help in the growth of their countries.

Here in South Africa the government has no clue on how to treat Africans who want to enter the country. The border is too wide open for whoever wants to come in; there is no control. These foreigners end up taking up the resources meant for the bona fide inhabitants.
In 2008 in Ramaphosa settlement Germiston foreigners boasted about how they own RDP houses, how they have jobs and money to woo South African ladies. South African men did not take kindly to this and tempers flared. Some foreigners allege that the education here is inferior, something that do not sit well with people in SA.

South Africans have a right to feel aggrieved when their government does not listen to them. But they have no right to burn property that belongs to foreign people, nor do they have the right to maim and kill them.

That is why a call goes out to esteemed presidents and leaders of the world to help JG Zuma in this regard.

to the world "kgotso"

The beat of the African drums have never been so enchanting. This time her drum beat is so beautiful that the sound rolls down her green, lush but barren valleys, so lovely that it kisses the blue skies above with sweet melodies, so melodies that the faces of her children evaporates into wonderful, exotic smiles of good-natured welcome. So pretty that her tears turn into rivers of of elegant streams. It is all so hypnotic.

Her drum beat is so loud that her children's hearts throb so loud in their chests, so loud that the thunder reverberates across the world, striking fear and uncertainty across the world, shaking those who will compete with her into trembling willows.

But this, the FIFA World Cup 2010, is an event for peace. It is an event when the world come together as one. So one that the African heart beat will, in one once in a life-time miracle, rhyme with all all the hearts across the universe. In our usual style,Africa will have a big feast,a festival. In the midst of all this, poverty, droughts, misery, will be forgotten. We will slaughter,we will raid the fields for vegetables,we will get our dancing steps in order, then, we will make a big bonfire as we imbibe large volumes of African beer.
We are not out for revenge against our former colonialists. We know that they will be here; there is no point to prove against them. We will compete pound for pound with them. Sure we have forgiven them, sure we see the scars inflicted on us as we look at our bodies. We see the aftermath of the rape;the African soil is still bleeding, the countless graves embedded in her womb.

While we will not forget,we will not revenge.

We are going to celebrate the spirit of brotherhood that is etched deep down on our spleens. We are all geared up for a period of humanity. From the eleventh of June to the eleventh of July we will fly every nation's flag high up, their national anthems will be sung from the depths of our lungs, their souls nourished in an African eagle's flight.

It will be beautiful.

We urge them to see how humane we are when we are in control of things, when no one is not pushing us around like slaves. The visitors will be save and will be well- fed. They will be allowed their boisterous self.
This is a festival of love and peace. Of football. Nothing will be allowed to spoil the occasion, not even the wailing of a hungry child.
So there it is. The Africans are hosting the greatest show on earth, the World Cup 2010. Kgotso. Feel free. Dance and feast. Shake hands and smile. We will reciprocate tenfold. We have no intention to avenge the atrocities perpetrated against us. This is the time to celebrate, to compete and to applaud the winner.
When the event is over we will continue to celebrate, but we also work hard. For when the world is happy with what we have achieved in presenting the festival, they might offer us something prestigious again to host. So we are not going to sit on our laurels, rub our hands in glee and pat each other on the back forever. No. we are going to toil harder now to keep the legacy going and make the spin-offs work better for us.
